Connect the positive jumper to the dead battery second. Connect the negative jumper to the donor battery third. Connect the negative jumper to the dead battery last. Start the donor vehicle and let it run for a few minutes. Make sure your Jeep has nothing turned on and the door is shut.

I have noticed more 97-98 ZJs have more common v8s. 93-96 ZJs have more common 4.0L. It seams that people are preffering 4.0L ZJ because of the MPG and gas prices. When in reality 97-98 are worth more $$. Also interior Urganomics seam nicer in 96-98 ZJs.

Only show this user. #20 · Aug 10, 2011. the 5.2 had a 44re (i think) and the 5.9 had a 46re. they are very similar but the 46 can handle more torque. it also came with a beefier np249 t case. its like the old jeeps- yeah the 360 is good but the 401 is better. the 5.2 is good but the 5.9 is better. First PCM-. engine would start and run, but would die out after about 5-10min and the check engine light would go through the self check as if the ecu had been reset. so, reading posts, i figured the ecu was the most likely culprit and replaced it. The only readings coming off the self diagnostic was 12 and 55, so nothing abnormal. .
